Ok, so I want a second battery in my 7100 because for some reason after updating the firmware my batteries seem to be going dead sooner, and I want the external power grip. Sony doesn't ship their camera with an external battery charger - you can only charge the battery in camera - which for me is a lot more stupid than having to unmount an external battery grip to get to the in-camera battery. Most of the time I have found that disconnecting the grip, checking to be sure the spring loaded connecting pins on the grip and the in the battery well of the camera are cleaned and properly aligned, reinserting the grip and wiggling it around to be sure it is in the battery well straight and pressing all the way against the contacts will go a long way to solving any problems with a button (or more) not working.
